YUNG BULL
Donta Hunter (a.k.a. Yung Bull) grew up in Houston, TX (b.k.a. H-town). Yung Bull’s music draws on the influences of artists Lil’ Keke, Big Pokey, Botany Boys and Lil Flip. Growing up in Cloverland, Yung Bull spent most of his time at Cloverland Park and professes to have seen almost everything from the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Yung Bull’s first passion was football. He would freestyle before every game to get his team fired up and psyched to win. For Yung Bull, rap not only became an outflow of a battle cry in the passion of football; rap also became a source of solace and direction faced with multiple tragic losses. He experienced the loss of his grandfather and close friend in the same year, and then later also lost his brother. Instead of being paralyzed by those deep losses they were a further catalyst redirected into rap. The losses made Yung Bull more determined to focus on his rap career.
Although at times it gets hard, Yung Bull is able to push through with help from mentor OG Ant, his Roc Solid family, and his brothers that he grew up with. Yung Bull declares he’s “not in this alone” and that he has “a purpose to make it for my family and my brother bull kids; with that being said......it’s Roc Solid or nothing!”.
