Jesse Rodriguez (a.k.a. Noonsy) is from Houston, TX; born and bred. Noonsy hails from the Northside Smilingwood Summer Tree Park apartments, right in front of the Northwest Park Water Tower. While attending Epps Island elementary school, at an early age Noonsy discovered his passion for music.  His family often remanences and recount the story about the time Noonsy was three years old and jumped on stage with the band at his aunt’s wedding and started singing “La Bamba”; and superstar rising, he stole the show.  As far back as Noonsy can remember, he was always dancing and singing.

Around the late 80’s/early 90’s when hip hop was at the forefront, especially gangster rap, Noonsy’s parents were separated. His father was living on the Southside at the height of the crack epidemic. Noonsy would often spend weekends with his father on the Southside. One pivotal Christmas, that essentially stamped Noonsy’s fate as a rapper, he has never forgotten and professes he will never forget. Noonsy’s father got him a CD player boom box with three cds; the cds were 2 Live Crew’s “Move Somethin’”, Too Short’s “Life is Too Short”, and N.W.A.’s “Straight Outta Compton”. That fate-aligning Christmas wasn’t the only profound foreshadowing experience in Noonsy’s emergence as a rapper; he also had a cousin (Robv) that convinced Noonsy he could be a rapper “for real”. Noonsy was six then, and he has been on a rapper’s mission ever since.

 

Noonsy briefly moved to his grandmother’s home in the country, but frustrated with the lack of opportunity in music he ultimately made a decision that would change his life forever and decided to move to his fathers’ home permanently which resulted in him placing roots in Cloverland and joining a life-long comradery......"And the rest is History".
